How GOV.Benefits AI works
GOV.Benefits AI is an educational assistant. It reads official benefit rules and government-letter language, then explains them in plain English. It does not make decisions, file applications, or communicate with agencies on your behalf.
- Benefit information is summarized from official sources.
- Letter explanations are generated by reading the text you provide.
- Chat answers are based on the same official sources and the context of your conversation.

We review source material periodically. The exact review dates of each benefit profile are shown on the profile page. If you notice outdated information, please let us know.
What AI can and cannot do
It can:
- Explain program rules in simple language.
- Clarify what a government letter appears to be asking.
- Answer follow-up questions based on the letter or benefit you are discussing.
- Point you to official application sites and phone numbers.
It cannot:
- Guarantee that you are eligible for a benefit.
- File applications or appeals for you.
- Provide legal, financial, or professional advice.
- Replace an official agency decision.
Privacy policy summary
We collect only what is needed to run the service. If you create an account, we store your email for sign-in. Benefit Finder answers stay on your device for the current session and are not saved to our servers. Uploaded letters are sent to the AI for explanation and then discarded; we do not permanently store them.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with government agencies. Read the full Privacy Policy for details.
Letter handling policy
When you upload a letter (image or text), it is processed by the AI to generate an explanation. The content is not stored permanently in our database. It exists only for the duration of the request. For your safety, avoid uploading documents that contain your full Social Security number or bank-account details.
Data retention policy
Account data (email) is retained as long as your account is active. Chat and letter content are not permanently stored in the current version. Feedback you submit is kept so we can improve the app. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
Why you should verify information with official agencies
Rules, income limits, and deadlines change. AI explanations are based on the sources we have reviewed, but they may not reflect the very latest update or special exceptions that apply to your case. The official agency always makes the final decision. Before you apply, appeal, or take any action, confirm the current rules on the official program website or by calling the agency directly.
